#BAW2016: Celebrate Brain Awareness Week with PLOS Neuro

Who would have imagined some decades ago that neuroscience would become so popular and important? Brain science is everywhere in our society and March is the time of the year when we celebrate the most mysterious and fascinating organ in our body – the brain.

Brain Awareness Week (BAW) is a worldwide campaign to increase public awareness about the progress and benefits of brain research. During a week (14-20 March) the world will celebrate the beauty and mysteries of the brain. Through many different outreach activities and cultural events (lectures, lab tours, art exhibits, performances…), scientists and non-scientists will gather together to share with people of all ages the importance of the brain, promoting a brain-healthy lifestyle and increased funding for brain research.

Using our blog and twitter account (@PLOSNeuro) we will closely follow Brain Awareness Week (#BAW2016). We are also launching a campaign to collect your contributions. Yes, we want to hear from you and to know how our readers will celebrate this special week of March! We invite you to send us short articles, brief opinions, stories, interviews, artworks and whatever your imagination will lead you to. We will be delighted to publish your contributions and to celebrate the brain with you.

You can contact us by Twitter (@PLOSNeuro) or by email (neurocommunity@plos.org).
