A new review came out recently, and I will point out straightaway that is is co-authored by my new boss (Jennifer Nemhauser) so I will not even pretend to be unbiased. Still, I thought it was worth reading for being rather different from a lot of plant synbio reviews out there. For two reasons; firstly the focus is signaling and development so not a biofuel in sight. Secondly particular attention is drawn in this review to the use of synbio methods to study natural plant systems. It’s in Nature Plants so unfortunately it might be locked behind a paywall for a lot of people – but the link is here.
What I found actually rather interesting is the extent to which most work covered could easily fall within the purview of more conventional plant molecular biology….
